class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Supports the dairy, poultry, and egg processing sectors to mitigate the impacts of:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Aims to assist existing processors in supply-managed sectors to increase their competitiveness and resilience in evolving markets<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Has an overall budget of $292.5 million from April 1, 2022, to March 31, 2028<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Program Objective<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The SMPIF supports investments in processing facilities to improve productivity and\/or efficiency through the acquisition of new automated equipment and technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Priority Consideration<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Priority is given to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Small and medium enterprises (SMEs)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>First-time applicants<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Processors manufacturing products on the import control list<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Projects that improve productivity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eligible Applicants<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For-profit organizations, including corporations and cooperatives<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Processors of supply-managed commodities:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Dairy (cows, ewes, goats, water buffalo)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Poultry primary processors (chicken and turkey)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Poultry further processors (chicken and turkey)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hatcheries (broiler, egg-type, or turkey)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Egg grading and processed egg (chicken only)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Applicant Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants must be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Operating in Canada<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Predominantly processing supply-managed commodities at the project location, with the majority sourced from Canadian raw commodities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Holding an active federal or provincial licence for food processing activities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Able to provide financial statements demonstrating ongoing revenues from processing (minimum of 24 months prior)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Federally or provincially registered legal entities capable of entering into legally binding agreements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Funding Details<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Contributions are non-repayable<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maximum AAFC contribution:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Dairy: $10 million<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Others: $5 million<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Funding is available over the life of the program (2022-2028)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Funding equipment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contracting external expertise for equipment installation services<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Modification of processing facilities necessary for equipment installation (excluding building construction)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Purchase of land and buildings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Research and development<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eligible Activities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Projects that increase automation and\/or improve productivity in processing facilities, such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Automation of existing production processes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Improvement of existing automated or robotic processes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Purchase of new production equipment or production lines<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Implementation or improvement of integrated management software<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Additional activities may include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Improving environmental sustainability<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Responding to consumer demands for food safety and animal welfare<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Application Process<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Deadlines<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications are accepted until available funds are fully allocated or until March 31, 2028.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Two-Stage Application Process<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Stage 1<\/strong>: Complete a Project Summary Form\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Determines applicant eligibility and alignment with program criteria<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If successful, invitation to apply for Stage 2<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Stage 2<\/strong>: Complete Project Application Package\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Submit detailed project budget form<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Respond to follow-up questions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If successful, sign Contribution Agreement with AAFC<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>AAFC aims to provide a funding decision within 100 business days of
